MEET JO MACKENZIE
A small businesswoman and decades-long resident of Vista, Jo is a dedicated and passionate individual whose leadership has been invaluable, not only for the over 100,000 residents served by the district, but also in working alongside all of North County including our Native American communities to ensure clean water is available for all. Her commitment to the community and vision for a better future are what Vista and North County need to manage our precious natural resources.
PROBLEM SOLVER
Jo's dedication to public service and her innovative ideas set her apart, and she aims to create a thriving environment that benefits all residents. Jo was one of the lead district negotiators in resolving a near 50-year long lawsuit between five North County tribes, the District, the city of Escondido, and the federal Government, ensuring every voice was heard and creating a more positive relationship across the County.
Campaign Goals

Always provide safe, reliable water meeting all federal and state safe drinking water standards

Maintain quality and reliability of the local water supply through collaboration with other water districts

Maintain and upgrade the district’s infrastructure----pipelines and reservoirs.

Maintain responsible stewardship of the District’s funds. Always being transparent.

Address future funding for major Capital Improvement Projects—replacement of the 98-year old flume that brings local water from the Escondido Treatment plant to Vista.

Recruit qualified personnel and maintain a work culture that enhances work production

Maintain stewardship of the Warner Ranch. A 45,000 acre watershed providing local water to VID and Escondido.

Create a Citizens Committee to lend ideas regarding replacement of the VID Flume.
